As it mushroomed from a 681-resident farming community in 1970 to the premiere residential and office location on Columbus’ beltway with 41,000 residents and 3,000 businesses today, the City of Dublin, Ohio, achieved remarkable success. This is demonstrated by high quality of life, community satisfaction and community services and a continuing commitment to quality design and to preserving its natural environment. But in 2009, Dublin’s city manager and planning staff foresaw that to maintain these qualities, Dublin must adjust its land use policies to respond to changing demographics, lifestyles and environmental priorities.

The City therefore launched this $250,000 strategic study of the community’s central core- the 1,000-acre Bridge Street Corridor - sensing that it contains seeds that can provide vital support for a more sustainable quality of life over the decades to come. The planning effort, and its resulting vision, focus on creating compact, walkable, market-based mixed-use development in a corridor that combines excellent access, beautiful river corridors, a traditional town center and suburban grayfields. The 14-month study process included extensive participation from a broad array of community stakeholders to embody the community’s ideas and earn broad-based community support.
